The Problem: The E-Commerce Bounce Rate
In modern e-commerce, capturing and retaining user attention is the most expensive operational hurdle. Traditional storefronts suffer from massive bounce rates; if a user is not immediately ready to buy, they leave.
The client needed to solve this exact problem for their brand. They required a digital environment that didn't just display products, but acted as an interactive "playground" designed to aggressively increase a user's Time-on-Site (TOS) and build brand affinity before pushing them toward a transaction. Furthermore, managing the constant updates for their tours, media, and products was becoming an administrative bottleneck.
The Targeted Metrics
- Maximize Time-on-Site: Engineer an immersive experience that keeps users engaged for minutes, not seconds.
- Automate Data Freshness: Eliminate manual content updates by building a system that automatically expires past events and pulls fresh media.
- Drive Warmed-Up Traffic: Seamlessly route this highly engaged traffic into the primary Shopify conversion funnel.
The System: The Interactive Conversion Hub
To solve this, I engineered a highly performant, edge-rendered "Web OS" platform. While it presents as a nostalgic Windows 98 desktop to the user, the underlying architecture is a sophisticated, automated marketing engine.
1. The Gamified Top-of-Funnel
Rather than a standard landing page, users drop into an interactive desktop environment. By integrating a custom streaming audio player, interactive file explorers, and a fully functional port of Minesweeper, the system hacks standard user behavior. Users actively explore and play, drastically increasing brand exposure and dwell time.
2. Automated Content Pipelines (Sanity CMS)
To ensure the client never had to manually update the site, I integrated a headless Sanity CMS architecture. I built custom business logic that automatically filters out past tour dates and synchronizes fresh media directly to the frontend via webhooks. The site runs itself on autopilot.
3. The Edge-Rendered Shopify Bridge
To ensure the heavy interactivity didn't compromise load speeds, the entire application leverages Qwik's resumability and Netlify Edge Functions. Once the user is fully engaged with the platform's media, strategically placed routing components funnel them directly into the client's Shopify store to complete transactions.

The Outcome: High-Retention Commerce
By discarding the traditional landing page playbook, Bonus Pool transformed standard web traffic into an engaged audience.
The edge-rendered architecture ensured zero latency despite the heavy interactive elements. The automated CMS integrations entirely removed the administrative burden of updating tour schedules. Ultimately, the system successfully utilized nostalgic gamification to capture attention, directly translating extended screen time into highly qualified traffic for the client's Shopify storefront.
